Early Childhood Development
Have you ever wondered how important your child’s first attempts at grasping
objects really are? Have you wondered when and how to introduce certain foods
into your baby’s diet? Have you ever wondered how to help your child learn to
talk or when he should be walking? There are many stages in a child’s life.
Children develop differently, and at different paces, but there are
“developmental milestones” that serve as markers to indicate when your child
would be expected to move to the next stage of development. Some children have
difficulty reaching these milestones without assistance. You, as a parent, can
do a variety of things to encourage your child along.
Prevention, Intervention, Education
The ECLC Disabilities Coordinator can help you learn more about your child’s
developmental milestones, and show you how to encourage his or her growth and
development. The Disabilities Coordinator can help you get needed services for
your child, such as WIC and well-child appointments. If your child has a
disability or a developmental delay, the ECLC Disabilities Coordinator can help
connect you with programs geared specifically for your child.

If you would like more information about our program or would like to visit with
our Disabilities Coordinator, please call the Coeur d’Alene Tribe Early
Childhood Learning Center at (208) 686-6507 and ask to speak with JR Gustin.
If your child has been diagnosed with a disability, or if you have immediate
concerns about their development, you can call or stop by the ECLC anytime from
7:30-5:00, Monday thru Friday. Our center is located at 350 Anne Antelope Avenue
in Plummer, Idaho.
